Running challenges
Ivan Alleaume - Running challenge

THE LONG-TERM OBJECTIVE

Reach as many half-marathons as my years (the sooner the better)

✦ I only ran my 1st half-marathon at the age of 38, so I'm playing catch-up !

✦ Age (half-marathons completed) : 2016 (1), 2017 (5), 2018 (6), 2019 (13), 2020 (17 and counting)...

Ivan 40.png

2017 : How it all started

Run 40 km / month in the year leading to my 40th birthday ✔️

It doesn't sound that much, but it was 40 km per month more than ever before (school notwithstanding). I was also raising money for charity, which helped for motivation.

Ivan Vladivostok.png

2018 : Looking for colder challenges

Complete my 6th HM on the frozen ocean off Vladivostok (Russia)  ✔️

At 40 I started to look for challenges, and the HONOR Vladivostok Ice Run on the frozen ocean was exactly what I was looking for. Being served tea by Russian soldiers at refreshment stations was possibly the most eerie of it all.

2019 : Budapest Easter Bunny Run (1st edition)

Creating and running my own designs ✔️

The 'Budapest Easter Bunny Run' is a half-marathon open to all, following a set pattern around Budapest. It is not a race per se (road code but be observed), but all participants get a medal and enjoy a picnic on Margaret island after the run.

Ivan Scotland.png

2019 : Pushing my limits

5 half-marathons in 5 days in the Scottish Highlands ✔️ (3/5)

Attempting to run 5 back-to-back HM to link the Atlantic ocean at Fort Williams to the North sea at Inverness, following the Great Glen Way, Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and Loch Ness. In the end, I managed 'only' 3 HM and 2 hikes - but in a kilt !

Ivan Alleaume - Running challenge

2020 : Run 1000 km in a year

i.e. the distance between Budapest and Istanbul

Over the past year, I have been focusing more on distance than speed. This new challenge equals to running the distance of a half-marathon every week.

Tour de Budapest.jpg

2020 : Tour de Budapest Challenge

If we can't travel, it's time to explore our home

The Tour de Budapest is a week-long challenge to run around the Hungarian capital, at the rate of one half-marathon per day, starting with hilly Buda and finishing with flat Pest.

2021 : Budapest Easter Bunny Run (2nd edition)

Event open to all !

The 'Budapest Easter Bunny Run' is a half-marathon open to all, following a set pattern around Budapest, although not a race per se (road code but be observed). All participants get a medal and enjoy a post-race picnic on Margaret island.

2021 : Wings for life

Running for those who can't (charity run)

I love the triple concept of this race :

✦ No distance is set, you run until a virtual car catches up with you,

✦ Everyone runs at the same time from everywhere in the world,

✦ Entry fees (and 50% of the profits from my running tours) go to charity.
